Santo Domingo Motors, the founding company of Grupo Ambar, was established on September 12, 1920, as a representative of the Chevrolet brand from General Motors.

Throughout its history, it has expanded its brand portfolio and currently distributes vehicles from Chevrolet, Nissan, Suzuki, Infiniti, and Cadillac, as well as Yamaha motorcycles. The company also offers after-sales services and parts sales.

Santo Domingo Motors represents various brands of tires, batteries, and vehicle accessories. The company has a strong distribution network consisting of three company-owned branches and independent dealerships.

It has a pre-owned vehicle division to support new vehicle sales through trade-ins and to facilitate vehicle acquisition for those seeking second-hand opportunities.

The company also includes Motor Paint, a body and paint shop, and Rapidcentro, a quick service workshop.
